On a test flight of a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (GVI), the pilots had a little fun. From what I can gather, it was a flight to test the de-icing equipment, and they flew at 49,000 feet for much of the flight, which lasted over 12 hours and covered nearly 6,800 statute miles.

Nice

I’m guessing these guys also spelled boobs on their calculators in math class.

I bet the bottom of that V was pretty fun.

That might even be more impressive than the 787 flight.

They could’ve done a better job with the V, at least make your turns symmetrical if you can’t pull 11G...

Ah, who am I kidding, it’s got to be fun to get paid for doing that stuff.

I used to drive around drawing pictures on the navplot when we were holding station on the mid watch and I was OOD. Was not nearly as precise as these guys haha.

Certainly more precise. But that GVI is a hotrod.

Pretty brilliant solution, really, and look at how accurately they matched the two. I’m guessing, though, that this was flown by a computer.

I forgot about the Boeing logo (or it’s a different one).

Might as well have fun with an otherwise boring test flight.

I probably would have written something that would have gotten me fired.

They stole it from McDonnell Douglas. Or at least took it over as part of the merger.

Kinja'd!!!

I always liked Douglas’ original logo.

Hey. The good news is, I got on CNN and the Today show.

The bad news is, I lost my job.

5 years later...

In stores where books are sold: The Flight test that got me Fired!

....my obsession with the phallic shape lead me to the aviation industry. Little did I know that I can only take my interest so far....

Oh yeah. If you wrote a book about that, I’m sure that garbage would sell.
